The first houses were small cinder-block homes of about 640 square feet, priced at $4,999, and buyers purchased them as fast as they could be built. The city was incorporated in 1954. Today Lake Ballinger, Ballinger Park, Terrace Creek Park, the Recreation Pavilion with its indoor pool, and the Interurban Trail give neighbors plenty of ways to get outside, and the Mountlake Terrace Station brings Link light rail to town.
